William Paul Healey, known mostly as “Bill” and “Gramps,” passed away peacefully on August 9, 2021, at the age of 84. Born in Waltham, Ma. on March 1, 1937, Bill attended the Weston schools where he starred in 3 sports, excelling especially in baseball. He was offered a major league try-out with the Cardinals before spending 10 years in the ‘Seabees’ unit of the Naval Reserve.
In 1962, he married Nancy White of Weston, Ma. They raised two superb children, Richard (Uxbridge, Ma.) and Cynthia (Palm Beach Gardens), and have enjoyed four special grandchildren, Lindsey and Courtney (Healey), and Patrick and Megan (Rooney). In addition to his wife of 59 years, Nancy, also known as “Mimi,” he is survived by his beloved brother, Kenneth Healey, and sister-in-law, Dorothy (Westwood, Ma.), brother-in-law, Robert White (Brighton, Ma.), sister-in-law Virginia Seeley (Stone Mountain, Ga.), and 18 nieces and nephews.
In 2001, Bill retired from careers in carpentry and retail sales, and he and Mimi have since made their home in Palm Beach Gardens. A lifelong, loyal fan of his New England teams: the Bruins, Patriots, and especially his Red Sox, Bill also enjoyed fishing, tennis, golf, woodworking and crafts, and spending time with his family.
Bill had his priorities straight. He loved his family, sports, and hobbies, and lived a quiet, contented life. He was treasured by all who had the good fortune to know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Tunnel to Towers (tunnel2towers.org), or Trustbridge Hospice Care of PBG.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, August 21st, 1 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 13591 Prosperity Farms Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410.
