MR. William E. Jacques Jr., a longtime resident of Winthrop, passed away in West Palm Beach, Florida on November 14, 2011. He was 78. Born in Charlestown, Mass he was the dear son of the late William and Mary Jacques. They resided in Winthrop, and Bill attended the Winthrop school system. At the outbreak of the Korean Conflict, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served with the U.S. Army 1st Calvary in Korea where he received the Purple Heart in action there.
After his discharge he became a member of the Boston Police Dept., assigned to the Deer Island House of Correction. He was a Past Commander of the Beachmont VFW Post, a member of the Eagles, a Life Member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks 1078, and a volunteer veterans service officer for Palm Beach County in Florida.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Christine (Sepe) of Winthrop and Florida. He leaves a son, William E. Jacques III and his wife Mary Ellen, and a daughter, Lorraine Carroll and her husband, David all of Winthrop. He is predeceased by a son, Paul Jacques. He is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were by the Joseph R. Frazier Funeral Home in Winthrop. Interment was at the Belle Isle Section of the Winthrop Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in Bill’s memory may be donated to a charity of your choice.
