Son of Jean Don and Edward Henry Cook of Granite Creek, Coalmont and Princeton. Cook was always forthright about his education. "I went to Princeton" he would say, without admitting that it was the one in B.C. unless asked. Dropping out of UBC in 1960, he joined the Vancouver Province and tried several roles before finding his niche as a copy editor which he did for some 36 years before taking early retirement in 2002.
While working he did manage to get his degrees from UBC after several fits and starts.
Retirement was where he was happy and he and Kathrine travelled the world, always ending up back at the cabin in Tulameen where they were so content.
He leaves his patient and long suffering wife Kathrine, son Tony, daughter Tracy and grandchildren Derek and Lauren.

Great newspapermen of the past have left life with "-30-" denoting the end of the story. Our modest hero, an editor to the end, prefers:
"THAT'S IT. PERIOD."
