It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of Brian Kirby on March 28, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Rita, sons Chris, Mike (Nicole) & Jamie (Katie), sister Barb, 6 beautiful grandchildren & numerous friends, relatives & colleagues. He is predeceased by his parents Jean Kirby & Al (Jerome) Kirby.
Brian enjoyed a very successful career in the steel industry that spanned 5 decades. He was most proud of the business he built with his family over the past 9 years. We will continue to grow his legacy in the years to come which would make him very proud.
Brian was highly loyal to his family and long-time friends and gave generously with his heart and his time. He made everyone feel special and cherished the large family and friend dinners which usually included a tune or 2 on the piano. Sharing his passion for the outdoors with family and friends, he enjoyed many years of hiking, camping, canoeing, skiing, sailing, and golfing. Rugby was also a passion of his and he maintained his connection with his teammates over regular breakfasts throughout the years. We have all been enriched for having shared life with Brian - he is forever loved and will be forever deeply missed by all who knew him. Although the world is less bright without him, his humour, wit and cheekiness will live on forever. We love you.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Royal Columbian Hospital for taking such good care of him during his short illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Seymour Golf & Country Club, 3723 Mt Seymour Pkwy, North Vancouver on Sunday, June 25 from 1-3 pm, please park across the street at Parkgate Shopping Centre.
