It is with deep sorrow and boundless love, that we mourn the passing of (our Mom, Grammy, and Grandma) Dona Frances Murdoch, 86, of North Vancouver, BC, who passed away peacefully on November 6, 2020.
Dona was born to the late Gertrude and Harvey Anderson on February 21, 1934, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was married to James Murdoch, in 1958 and enjoyed 33 happy years with him before he passed away in 1991. They lived with their two daughters in Toronto, Ontario, Old Tappan, New Jersey, Hong Kong, Manila, Philippines, and Vancouver, BC. They also enjoyed travelling to other places throughout the world.
Dona will be dearly missed by daughters Linda and Leslie, son-in-law George, grandchildren Jelayna, Carianne, Nicholas and Kirsten, along with many other relatives and friends. Dona was a dedicated and loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family, including her pets, with all her heart. Each Thanksgiving and Christmas, the warm and comforting smell of the best baking powder biscuits in the world wafted from the kitchen, as she loved to cook and bake for others. She was a loyal and caring friend to all and always loved to talk and laugh with those she crossed paths with. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing in choirs. At least once a week, Dona played bridge with her friends. She also played golf for many years. She was a talented and passionate artist and studied Chinese brush painting and Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). There was always a gorgeous flower arrangement on her dining room table and beautiful paintings on the walls. Dona deeply loved animals and nature, especially birds, flowers and the ocean, which were often the subject of her paintings. Dona loved beauty in her environment and in fashion and she always looked smashing when she dressed up. She cherished the art and souvenirs she collected in her travels and loved to recount stories of her experiences overseas.
We would like to express our everlasting gratitude to the staff at Lynn Valley Care Centre who cared for Dona with such kindness and grace.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, we will celebrate Dona’s life in the summer of 2021. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider donating in Dona’s memory to Diabetes Canada. Thank you to all who brought love and light to Dona’s life.
