October 1,1937 - April 18, 2020
George Terhune passed away peacefully April 18th, 2020 at Evergreen House, North Vancouver, in his 83rd year. George was born in Trail, BC to Roger and Christina (Kambick) Terhune.
George is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilynne, his son Roger (Robyn) and children Mandy and Spencer, our daughter in law, Lisa Mather and Holly (Mitchell) and Amanda, his son Dave (Lori) and their children Courtney and Mathew. George is also survived by his brother Stuart (Leslie) and their two children Alison and Michael.
George lived and attended school in Rossland, BC. He continued his education in Spokane Washington at Kinman Business University. George furthered his accounting education throughout the following years.
During his professional career George managed a credit union, was a controller for a concrete company, accountant for a private accounting firm and an Assistant Secretary Treasurer for two school districts.
George had many interests. His first love other than his wife was his new white 1977 Corvette. They had many wonderful adventures in that vehicle including a special road trip to Winnipeg.
In his last accounting position, in the New Aiyansh area, George fulfilled a fisherman’s dream by catching tyee salmon from the Nass and surrounding rivers. On another occasion he and his two sons had an exciting experience trying to fish off Bowen Island. The fishing was poor as they found themselves in competition with an amazing pod of Orcas. George continued his love of the outdoors by volunteering for the North Shore Streamkeepers.
And not least of all was his love for games especially with his family and friends. One of these involved the exciting game of Rummoli where the chips were skittles! Crib was a definite favourite with his brother and wife, and as a monthly get-together with three other friends. The backyard was a place for badminton, bocce, croquet, darts and ladder toss.
Also important to George was having a dog or two. They were shelties for many years and in recent years a rescue collie. George found much joy and pleasure with these lovable animals.
The date for a celebration of George’s life will be decided later when the COVID virus restrictions allow family and friends to attend. The celebration will take place at the Terhune home in North Vancouver possibly the 2021 summer.
We want to give special thanks to the staff at Evergreen House who gave George excellent care for the last 22 months of his life. Charity donations could be given to the Alzheimer Society in George’s memory.
