Greta was born in Jakobstad, Finland some 92 years ago.
Moved to Canada in February 1957 and settled in Richmond, B.C.
Predeceased by John her husband of 37 years on March 6, 1983
Greta is survived by her daughter Ulla-Britt and husband Nick van den Boer, grandchildren Erik (his wife Tegan) and Nicole (her partner Mike) and great-grandchildren Gaby, Jackson & Aiden, which she adored. In Finland she leaves behind her sister-in-law Marlene Sandberg and niece Anki Sampert.
She liked collecting pictures of movie stars and royalty. "Coronation Street" was her favorite TV show. She was a great cook and could bake a cake to "die" for.
She crocheted a lot and at Christmas time many of her friends will dig out her "snowflakes" in white and red to add to the festivities. Although this year there may be a tear in their eye.
For the past 6 years she lived in Delta View Life Enrichment Centre. We wish to recognize the loving care provided by the staff. Their policy of "HUGS instead of drugs" is commendable. Delta View truly was an oasis in the twilight of her years.
Greta did not want a funeral service but wished to join her husband at First Memorial Gardens in North Vancouver.
She loved music and enjoyed singing in the Runeberg Choir. Lately she was heard singing in the hallways of Delta View.
Now her SONG has ended... But the MELODY will linger on.
