Joyce was born March 19, 1937 at home in Vancouver, British Columbia, to James Melvin and Mary Beck Hughes. She grew up in the greater Vancouver area with her paternal grandparents and cousins close. At sixteen she married William Pears and a few years later gave birth to her first of four children. Joyce and Bill divorced in 1970 and Joyce raised her four children in North Delta, British Columbia. With a grade 10 education she took her real estate exam and became a realtor in the male dominated field in the 1970’s until she retired in 2017. She was very proud of her accomplishments. Joyce moved to the West End of Vancouver and then North Vancouver where she resided for over 25 years. Over the years she made many friends in North Vancouver and at the dog park. She married her second husband Ross Bevan and was divorced two years later. They remained friends until the day Ross passed. Struggling with Alzheimer’s Joyce moved to Haro Park Centre where the amazing staff nurtured and cared for her. The family would like to thank her companion Liezel and the staff at Haro Park Centre for the dignity and love they showed Mom. Predeceased by her daughter Faith Angeline Pears, beloved son Douglas Pears, father James Melvin Hughes and mother Mary Beck Warnes. Survived by three children, Debra (Craig), Greg (Mary) and Susan (Dwayne), daughter-in-law Cindy, grandchildren Keith (Gabby), Elisha (Andy), Michael (Sarah), and Evan and great-children Leah, Kai, Kane, Jalen and Scottie.
