Karen Alexandra Kerr (Brockelmann)

Throughout her life Karen loved and cared for everyone around her deeply. She was a lover at her core, putting her family and friends above all else. She lived her life with fierce determination and always made everyone smile.

She was very special, a once in a lifetime kind of person, and will live within us every day. She will be missed dearly and held in our hearts by her family, her many friends, and all those she connected with in her North Vancouver community.

Those who knew Karen know that throughout her entire life she was a hard worker, reliable, steadfast, dedicat, and brave. She conquered every challenge she was ever handed. She also gave her time and attention to the things that mattered to her with pride, as seen through her commitment to her family and her many years working on the waterfront with her Western Stevedoring family. Additionally, for more than 50 years, Karen was a passionate member of Beta Sigma Phi. There, she held multiple positions, including President, participated in many humanitarian efforts, and met some of her dearest and lifelong friends.

While Karen left us much too soon, we are so grateful for the time we had with her, the countless memories we made, and the light she brought into our eyes. We are so proud of her.

Karen is survived lovingly by her children, Tara Rissanen (Chad Rissanen), Leah Mlynarski (Philip Mlynarski) and grandchildren, Savannah, Indiana, Gabriel, and Kiana

We carry you and all the little lessons you taught us forever. We miss you profoundly and will love you always.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held November 17th, 2023, at the Holiday Inn, North Vancouver, 700 Old Lillooet Road, in the North Shore Ballroom from 4-6PM. In Karen’s honour, we encourage all those attending to please wear bright, fun colours.
