I came to know Lynda in December 2018 when my daughter started attending Mount Pleasant Child Care Centre. We feel so fortunate to have our kids cared for by magnificent educators, and Lynda was precisely that. She had such a caring personality and clearly loved spending time with the children.
Lynda introduced me to Robert Munch's books, and I still hold on to her handwritten recipe for play-dough. I loved our conversations, even brief, as she would often make me smile or laugh.
Lynda's sudden death saddens me so much. I think about her often; she is greatly missed by our family.

The reality of Lynda's departure remains a surreal and challenging notion for me to accept. It's still hard to believe that she's gone. Lynda and I have worked together for a long time, and throughout our shared experiences, I remember her for her kindness and caring nature that she extended to colleagues and the daycare families.

The past two years have unfolded with their fair share of difficulties for me, and during this period, Lynda would often check in with me on how both my family and I were doing. She would always have encouraging words for me, along with her warm hugs, which I miss dearly. Her genuine concern for my family and me was not just a professional gesture; it was a testament to the depth of her compassion. 

Beyond her nurturing demeanor, I find myself missing her infectious laughter and the heartwarming scenes of her reading to the children. Those instances painted a picture of a soul deeply committed to bringing joy and comfort to those around her.

I pray that Lynda felt the immense love we all have for her and how much we all miss her. May she rest in peace, her memory cherished by all who were privileged to know and be touched by her kindness.

It has taken me some time to get my words written here, not that I haven't thought about it many times but what do I write? I worked with Lynda at Mt Pleasant for just over 20 yrs in the over 3s. We were like family....we saw each other more than our own families! 
Over the years, it didn't matter what was going on in her life, she always cared for me and my family! She attended my wedding in 2009 and was always in the know of what my children were doing especially when it came to sports. 
Lynda loved the children and families at the daycare very much, they were her life! Lynda was an avid storyteller with the children. She was a lover of any Robert Munsch and the Knuffle Bunny series. She will be greatly missed in our community!

Our children have both attended Mount Pleasant Child Care Society and our whole family have nothing but the fondest of memories of Lynda in our whole time being a part of the community there.  I think i likely speak on behalf of any family that has been a part of the society when i say that the staff that work there, are what make it so magic.  Lynda was  exactly that, magic: always laughing with my kids, clearly enjoying her time with them, making the days fun, and treating them with so much kindness and care.  We often bumped into Lynda outside of work and she was exactly the same.  Always.

RIP Lynda, you are sorely missed by all the children you cared for, and all the families connect to them. x

To all of you who have heard of Aunty Lynda’s passing, remembered her, viewed this obituary, shared and/or reflected on your memories, and loved Aunty Lynda, Thank You.

Aunty Lynda loved her work and being a part of all the children’s lives. She thought of her colleagues and friends as her extended family and loved each of you. Sometimes we’d talk about her retirement. I think the hardest part for her, of considering retiring, was the thought of not seeing all those at Mount Pleasant Day Care each day. I believe being with all the children gave her such enjoyment and fulfillment that she just couldn’t imagine leaving. 

Just over six years ago, when I told Aunty Lynda I was pregnant, she was overjoyed. She was so excited to become a great aunt again. Less than a month after my daughter was born, Aunty Lynda came over, very eager to meet and hold her grandniece. It’s a memory that I cherish.

I remember Aunty Lynda excitedly telling me about all the books she loved, giving me some fantastic recommendations. She shared the ones she loved reading to the children at the daycare. I think that was one of her favorite things to do. Those of you who knew Aunty Lynda from the daycare will already know this; she told me her very favorite books were the Knuffle Bunny series by Mo Willems and she insisted I have copies of the books for my daughter. We have come to love those books and I love reading them to my daughter, always thinking of Aunty Lynda when I do.

Aunty Lynda’s passing was a shock, as it was so sudden. I still have moments where I can’t believe she’s gone. However, remembering all the lives she’s been a part of, all the children she’s read to and taken care of, and the wonderful friends she had, brings me comfort. Some of us never get the chance to love what we do, but Aunty Lynda did and reading your memories, seeing the photos you’ve shared, reminds me of how she had that.

I came to know Lynda through my work as a casual at Mount Pleasant Day Care these last 12 years.  She was a steady presence, a supportive co-worker and mentor, a reassuring listener and often demonstrated how joyful working with young children  could be. 
 I was very saddened by the news of her sudden passing and wish to give my sincere condolences to Lynda's family, friends and co-workers.

How do I put down in words my relationship with Linda, We worked together for 32 years and we became like an "old married couple". It started in 1991 when Linda and I worked together in the Toddler Program. I was the bossy one, she often just rolled her eyes at me. This was my first daycare experience, and Lynda was the one I learned from. Throughout her career, Linda cared very much for the children and families she supported. Over the years, we grew and matured. Like any relationship, we had bumps in the road, but we never lost the respect we had for each other. Lynda was present at my wedding, and at our son's Welcome Home Party, she also cared for my son on the Over Three side for two years. We also celebrated our 25 year anniversary at the daycare together. She was there for the big milestones in my life. In Lynda's true caring nature, through the years, she always asked how my son or spouse was doing. You will always be in my heart. Sleep well my friend.

I worked with Lynda for just 15 months. I know from that time that she cared deeply for the children in our care, she was an avid storyteller, and she was always concerned for the well being of her colleagues and their families. Rest well Lynda. You will be missed.
