HIGGINS, Marion Edith (Chapman) Mom passed away peacefully on May 26, 2018 after a brief illness in LGH Palliative Care, just a few weeks from her 99th Birthday. Born in Sault St Marie, Ontario, she was the last surviving child from a family of 5 girls and 3 boys and was predeceased by her husband Eddy (Red) in 1986. Survived by 4 children, Barry, Bruce, Glen and Donna, 13 grandchildren and 19 Great-grandchildren. The Chapman Family grew up in Union Bay on Vancouver Island and in North Vancouver. Mom worked at The Sugar Bowl at the bottom of Lonsdale, where she met Dad, who worked at Burrard Dry Dock and they married on July 3, 1943. Mom found being a homemaker for the next 26 years rewarding and welcomed her first grandchild in 1963. From the first grandchild, Mom was thrilled to welcome new babies into her life until her passing. Summers were spent at the cabin on Gambier Island and winters included many visits to the cabin on Grouse Mountain. Maui was also a favorite annual vacation at the shared accommodation. After Dad's early passing, Mom enjoyed traveling, was a member of the West Van Hikers Club and took part in hikes all over BC with many different friends. The last 20 years she has lived in Kiwanis Manor in Lynn Valley and was known as the lady with the Tilley hat who loved to walk (to the end). Please join us for a Celebration of Life at Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Rd, North Vancouver on Monday, June 18 at 2 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined, friends so wishing may make a donation in Marion's memory to North Shore Hospice and Palliative Project or BC Children's Hospital.
