Mark was a loving brother, father, husband, uncle, and poppa. He could often be found with a golf club or ice cream spoon in his hand, as family and friends can attest. His other passions included gardening, bridge, and having enthusiastic discussions about the Canucks, politics, or the stock market.
Mark was a firm believer in the power of education. He graduated Magee High School in 1965 and later received his BCom from UBC. While he didn't end up staying in finance, he took great pleasure in following the markets and supporting the financial literacy and security of those around him. He was known for his personal motto, 'Work hard your first 25 years so you can enjoy your last 25."
A lifelong Vancouver resident, Mark was able to spend many hours out on the local greens and is remembered fondly by his golf partners throughout the Lower Mainland. In his earlier years he was also an avid hiker, skier, and baseball player. Youth athletics held a special place in his heart and he was involved in coaching youth basketball and supporting other sports the children in his life were involved in.
The family would like to thank the team from Vancouver Coastal Health who supported him in his journey with cancer. They went above and beyond to make sure he felt cared for and valued.
Mark did not want a funeral, however he did ask that you raise a glass in his memory.
