It is with sadness, but fond reflection, that we announce the passing of Mervyn Charles Dunford in his 91st year. Merv died peacefully on May 15, 2025 at Broadway Pentecostal Lodge in Vancouver. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is predeceased by his parents, William Charles and Dorothy Florence Dunford. He is also predeceased by his three loving sisters Dorothy, Peggy and Barbara and will be remembered dearly by an extended network of nieces, nephews and their families.
At an early age Merv started working for IBM Canada and soon rose up the ranks in their sales sector. His success caused him to move across Canada from Toronto to Quebec and eventually to Vancouver where his heart was captured. He spent most of his life in a home he owned in Gibson's, BC, each morning waking up to a panoramic view of the Sunshine Coast on the Straits of Georgia. Merv eventually moved into Vancouver where he enjoyed playing golf, crewing on large sailing ships running up and down the Pacific Coast and listening to jazz music. Merv was a beloved uncle and a wonderful friend to his buddies at the golf club in Vancouver. He will be missed.
Following Merv's wishes cremation has taken place. Urn committal will take place on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Boal Memorial Gardens, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver.
Condolences and memories may be shared with family and friends on the website for First Memorial Funeral Services in North Vancouver
