Patricia Anne Worsley, Pat or Patty as she was more commonly known, passed away at Lions Gate Hospital after a series of strokes on January 26, 2022 at the age of 76.
She was a devoted single mother who cherished her family and friends, even if we didn't know how much at times! While separated by distance from most of her family in her later years, she was always eager to hear the latest news or receive photos to ensure she stayed connected. She never missed a birthday or holiday as cards, calls and presents always made it on time - even when we told her we didn't want anything. She is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Edith Ross and ex-husband David Worsley. Pat was one of three children and is survived by her brother David (Shirley) and sister Kathie as well as her daughter Nicole (Mike), niece and nephews: Jackie (Kevin), Brian (Ashley), Adrian (Larissa) and their children Emma, Erin, Carter and Adam respectively.
Pat was born in Vancouver in 1945 and always wanted to be a pilot. But, in those days, the only 'flying' career for a woman was as a flight attendant. She was flight attendant -with Air Canada for many years and delighted her friends and family with stories of her adventures abroad. It was through Air Canada that she was able to not only realize her career dreams of flying but where her love of travel could be realized. It was through Air Canada that enabled her to see China, Japan and Columbia later in life, countries she didn't get to while working.
It was as a flight attendant that she met and married her ex-husband David and together they had Nicole. After being grounded by her daughter, she lived in various towns throughout BC including 108 Mile Ranch, Gibsons, Richmond and finally returning to the North Vancouver, the place she considered home. Her career was as varied as the places she lived but was always focused on helping others. In the 108 she was a stay-at-home mother who was the centre of her community hosting events, allowing locals to 'park their horses' in the backyard, and working with the neighbours on community projects. In Gibsons, she volunteered with women's shelters and was a reporter who worked on economic development stories while returning to college to complete a Certificate in Business Administration. Moving back to Vancouver saw her return to Air Canada as a call agent, in the airport and numerous positions in between.
She cherished close friends from childhood and Air Canada and loved her newest community at Mountain Terrace, always gushing about the dinner parties and social activities. They will miss you sense of humour, generosity and surprise gifts.
A private memorial service will be planned later in the spring at Burnaby's Pacific Heritage Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of their choice.
