

April 22, 1932 – March 10, 2024
With immense sadness, we announce the passing of Bob Dawson on March 10th, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Lovingly remembered by his cherished wife and soulmate of 68 years, Rose, and his children Carol Anne, Brian (Belinda), and Sandra (Terry). He is also survived by grandchildren James (Elly), Steven (Amber), Robert, Siobhan, and great-grandchild Caoimhe.
Bob entered the world in Vancouver, born at St. Paul’s Hospital to James and Isabella Dawson. He pursued his education at Britannia High School, and later, he furthered his studies at Vancouver Vocational Institute and attended night school to obtain his teaching degree. Starting his career at Phillips, Barratt & Partners Engineers and then transitioning to teaching drafting at Vancouver Vocational Institute from 1956 to 1977, eventually rising to the position of Divisional Chairman. In 1977, he assumed the role of Principal at Pacific Vocational Institute, Maple Ridge Campus. Additionally, he taught drafting at Kwantlen College, Richmond Campus. His remarkable contributions were recognized with the B.C. of Vocational Administrators Honorary Lifetime Membership for his role as a founding member of the B.C.A.V.A.
In 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Rose Gilmour. Bob loved and adored his family and had a passion for woodworking, boat building, and vacationing at Cultus Lake and Osoyoos. He crafted a Ron Thom home for his family on Rose Crescent in West Vancouver, affectionately known as "the house of many corners," which later became a heritage home. Later retired to Lions Bay. Bob was also a member of the West Vancouver Auxiliary Police Force. In his life time he built three boats; Bobell a cabin cruiser, as well as a speedboat called Daze-Off. In his later years, he transformed a fishing boat into a cruiser named the Flink. Bob was also one of the owners of T.P. Trailer Park & Trout Farm at Cultus Lake.
Bob's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends and his memory will be treasured and honored. He had a lifetime of tremendous accomplishments, yet his greatest source of pride was his cherished family.
