It is with heavy hearts and enormous sadness that we share the passing of Ronald (Ron) O’Grady on October 28, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on February 21, 1948, Ron passed away peacefully at the North Shore Hospice after facing his illnesses with extraordinary strength and unwavering determination.
Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Anna O’Grady, he is survived by the love of his life, Lorna, his daughters Kimberly O’Grady and Shannon Miller (Dustin), step-sons Michael Olynyk (Carly) and Alex Olynyk (Mandy), and grandchildren Gradyn, Sasha, Chase, Owen, and Lucy.
Ron lived in Montreal from 1953 to 1965 before moving to Soest, Germany, where his father began a new army posting. As a teenager, Ron felt fortunate to have the opportunity to travel throughout Europe, make lifelong friends, play sports, and take part in the vibrant teen club community. It was there that he discovered his enduring love of music and dance. After his father’s three-year term ended, the family returned to Montreal, where Ron completed his schooling.
Ron began his career in retail with Robert Simpsons, followed by a position in the planning and administration department at United Aircraft, a division of U.S.-based Pratt & Whitney. In 1972, he moved to Toronto and began a long and successful career in finance with the Bank of Nova Scotia.
In 1992, Ron made the courageous decision to move west and establish his own independent financial services firm. In honor of his father, Charles Edmund O’Grady, he named his company CEO Financial Services. For thirty-three years, Ron was proud to be a “wealth builder” for his clients, offering guidance, integrity, and personalized investment advice. Many of his clients remained with him from the beginning — a true testament to the trust and care he inspired. With deep gratitude and appreciation, Ron thoughtfully chose another advisor to carry on his book of business, ensuring his clients would continue to be well cared for.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care Ron received from the teams at Vancouver General Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, Lion’s Gate Hospital, and the North Shore Hospice.
To honor Ron’s memory, please turn up some 60’s music and dance.
Ron leaves behind a lasting legacy of a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. We will always remember his smile. Ron you’re “the best”!
Forever in our hearts.
