Sheila Wilmot

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Sheila Wilmot, on May 16, 2025 with her daughters by her side. Sheila was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Mick, in 2018. She leaves behind two daughters, Sharon (Rob) and Lorina (Dave), and 5 grandchildren, Kristen (Brad), Andrew (Suzie), Christopher (Kate), Kerry (Christy), and Kevin (Meghan). She was very pleased to have 7 great grandchildren, Carson, Rhys, Pendle, Jack, Milo, Harlow, and Arlo although she joked that the names of the youngest three were too hard to keep straight!

Sheila and Mick emigrated to Canada from England in 1955 with baby Sharon, living first in Winnipeg, then Saskatoon and Calgary and finally settling in North Vancouver. She worked outside the home, with jobs in retail and managing restaurants for the Hudson’s Bay Company. She and Mick travelled extensively and had many stories to tell of their adventures. She was a keen gardener, preferring flowers to vegetables, and we all marveled at how beautiful her yard always looked. She hosted many Sunday dinners for friends and family and specialized in roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, with trifle for desert, always using the good china and silverware. Sheila loved playing cards, lawn bowling, played a wicked game of darts, and made many friends at the seniors center. She very much enjoyed her final years at Summerhill Retirement Residence.
