Born August 24, 1968 in North Vancouver. Left this life on May 18, 2023 in North Vancouver. This earth became a very different place.
"Celebrate the WIDTH of my Life, not the Length" Triona's request.
Triona was a beloved Granddaughter, Daughter, Niece, Sister, Cousin, Auntie, Mother, Great Auntie. A fiercely loyal friend, colleague, team mate, mentor. So many left behind with broken hearts.
Her most treasured role in this life was Mother to Devin. Her enormous heart was filled by her family, her friends, and in the last years her beloved Zeus, her hearts dog.
Her chosen Sisters, Michelle Pena and Charito Mackay. The entire Mackay and Savet families, as well as all her treasured friends and extended family members near and far, sharing the profound loss together. Too many to list.
If Triona touched your life you know how significant an impact she made. She was brilliantly intelligent, creative and sarcastic, with a wicked sense of humour, a keen sense of fairness. She was an amazing human being. She dove deeply into all that she endeavoured to achieve. Triona will be missed, hugely, massively, immensely. No words will articulate how deeply her loss will affect so many.
“It was always about the water”
Think of Triona when travelling, when swimming, wading, kayaking, boating. A favourite childhood pastime building rafts of driftwood and sailing on adventures. Those long summer days on the beach.
We would like to acknowledge the care and compassion of each and every individual involved in Triona’s care. Again far too many to name.
A celebration of Triona will be announced at a date to yet be determined In honour of Triona donations can be made to North Shore Hospice and Palliative programs.
In honour of Triona please reflect on these words, eat the cake, do the hard things, do the fun things. Love your people hard, all of them. With Love and Rage
When I die give what’s left of me away
to children and old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
cry for your brother walking the street beside you.
And when you need me, put your arms around anyone
and give them what you need to give to me.
I want to leave you something,
something better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I have known or loved,
and if you cannot give me away,
at least let me live in your eyes and not your mind.
You can love me best by letting hands touch hands,
and by letting go of children that need to be free.
Love doesn’t die, people do.
So when all that is left of me is love,
give me away.
