I am very sad to hear of Jim’s sudden death.  I’m a retired family physician, of similar age, who knew Jim, as the Department Head of Family and Community Medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital  and as a colleague who sometimes looked after my unstable, complex, frail elders I referred to MSJH Geriatric ward where he worked. (The last 15 years of work life, I worked with frail elders in the community, in residential care and in hospital.)  Jim was someone I respected greatly. He was a skilled and caring physician. He was a creative and effective  leader who thought outside the box.  He was humble and very approachable.  I really appreciated that he worked with the most vulnerable populations, even when he was at “the top of his game”.  And for all these reasons, he was a great family doctor, teacher and leader! His contributions were many.  He will be missed!

Dear Inge and family, I worked with Jim for many many years at Three Bridges.  I am very sorry that I am unable to attend the service today.  Jim was always such a gentle, caring and steadfast presence at our clinic.  His patients keep reminding us of how much they adored him.  He was a leader in our community and our clinic but first and foremost he was a wonderful colleague and friend.

We will carry his memory fondly.  I will always remember him as the genuine, supportive, kind mentor that he was.
