

William Watson Rennie, aged 97, passed away on July 7, 2025, surrounded by family members who love him so very much and will miss him greatly.
William (Bill) was born on November 5, 1927 in Vancouver - the son of Gladys Ada and George Watson Rennie. Dad was the youngest of five children.The family moved to Powell River, where his father worked as a machinist in the pulp and paper mill.
Dad loved the outdoors and nature. He spend many hours as a boy exploring the lakes and forests in and around Powell River.
Dad graduated from the U.B.C. School of Architecture in 1953. After graduation he worked for Thompson Berwick and Pratt in Vancouver for a year.
In 1953 he married Sylvia Geraldine (Gerry) Campion.They spent a year in Calgary then headed back to Vancouver. Later in his career he became a partner with Phillips Barratt Engineers and Architects.Together, Bill and Gerry raised a family of four children and six grandchildren. Later, Dad welcomed four great grandchildren.
Dad's talents and passions included painting and music. He was a very talented artist. Dad had a wonderful ear for music; he played saxophone, clarinet and piano - mostly self-taught. Another passion was Barbershop Quartet singing. He sang with the Vancouver Thunderbird Chorus for many years. And of course, he loved his family. He very much enjoyed watching everyone grow; he was a big part of our lives.
Dad is survived by his children - Christine (Scott), Michael (Bernadette), Denise and Patricia (Ortensio); his grandchildren Sean (Meaghan), Lindsay (Trevor), Jason (Dina), Jamie (Kara), Cassandra (Caleb) and William; and his great-grandchildren Kosta, Iris, Jane and Liza. Michael's stepdaughter Gisella and step-granddaughter Damari share in our loss.
Dad is pre-deceased by his wife Gerry, and his siblings George, David, Jean and Gladys.
Rest in peace Dad, love you forever.
