Born February 6th, 1917 in Liverpool England
Bill passed away peacefully at age 107 in the presence of his family on April 21st, 2024 at Royal Arch Masonic Home, Vancouver, B.C.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie and is survived by son Graham and daughter in law Susan, as well as family members in both Canada and England.
Bill was raised and went to school in Liverpool, where as a schoolboy, he met a girl named Marjorie who was the love of his life. Bill and Marjorie grew up together and married in 1941. They enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage before Marjorie passed away in 2006.
Bill joined the British Army at the beginning of WW2 and served for the duration of the war. After the war, Bill and his family immigrated to Canada in 1948 and settled in Burnaby, B.C. He was employed by Pilkington Glass for several years before he and colleagues started their own glass business. The business grew and went through several acquisitions, eventually becoming AFG Glass.
Bill enjoyed golf, travel and his association with the Masons and Shriners. He was one of the driving forces behind the construction of the Royal Arch Masonic Home and served on the Board of Directors for many years.
Bill touched the lives of many as a father, friend and mentor. His passing marks the end of an era.
Special thanks to the nurses, care aids and staff at Royal Arch Masonic Home who took such good care of “Uncle Bill” as he was affectionately called.
A memorial service will be held in Bill’s honor on Saturday May 11th, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary the Virgin South Hill Church, 808 East 50th Ave., Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Royal Arch Masonic Home would be appreciated.
