Barbara Clarke

Barbara Ann Jones Clarke, age 79, of Northport, AL died February 11, 2026 at DCH regional Medical Center. Services will be on Tuesday, February 17th at 11:00am at Sunset Funeral Home with Shannon Moses, Rob Livingston, Ken Cheek and Casey Snider officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memory provider, directing. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16th from 6:00-8:00pm.

She was preceded by her parents Melvin and Iva Jones, and her son, Tommy Clarke. Survivors include her husband Tom Clarke, daughter Sheila Clarke Wilson, daughter-in-law Maggie Holt (Mike), grandchildren Ashlyn Jones (Tanner), Leah Kelley (Chris), Clay Clarke, Nicholas Wilson, great grandchildren Maverick and Lincoln Jones, and her sisters Shirley Mitchell and Debra Carroll. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, nanny, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law and friend. She had a servants heart. She retired from DCH after dedicating 34 years as a nurse. She never left her calling as a nurse and extended her skills as an EMT by volunteering her services with Carroll’s Creek Fire District. She was active in several ministries at Chapel Hill Baptist Church and will be missed by all who knew her.

She had many names throughout her life but she treasured her role as a loving wife, mother and “Nanny.” She loved reading, music, traveling, waterfalls and sharing her knowledge through teaching others. She was a graduate of Holt High School, DCH School of Nursing and The University of Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Sudduth, Tommy Davis, Keith Hamner, Ferrill Mitchell, Michael Chism, and Christopher Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Carroll’s Creek Fire District and Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
