Bebe believed that love was an action, not just a word. She showed that by embracing humility and the mindset of servitude. She was a member of Northport Baptist church for over 50 years. Throughout those years she taught Sunday school for children and adults and served as mission leader for teens, GA's and Mission Friends. Through Northport Baptist Church she was involved with a tutoring program for elementary children. She served as WMU director and Women's Ministry Team Leader. She also served as chairperson of the Disaster Relief Temporary Emergency Children's Team.
Sunset Brown-Service Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is honored to serve the Barnett family during their time of bereavement. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.SunsetBrown-Funeral.com
She was very active in the Tuscaloosa County Baptist Association. Some of her voluntary programs included: Baptist Women's Director, WMU Director, Association Church Ministry Director- working with approximately 80 churches throughout Tuscaloosa County and Director of Literacy.
Bebe was very instrumental in establishing the Christian Ministries Center and the Good Samaritan Free Medical Clinic. In 2000, she was awarded Northport's Religious Leader of the year. When West Alabama Hospital (Northport DCH) opened in 1976, she volunteered through the Women's Auxiliary and served as its first president. Bebe was also a member of the Southern Culture Club, Friends of Historic Northport, Elysian Club and Gideon's International.
While "Miss Bebe" loved her church and volunteer work, she was most proud of being (Granny Goose). She loved to use her talent of French-hand sewing to design elegant heirloom clothing for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Though Alzheimer's took you mind and your body, it never took the sparkle in your eyes or your sweet smile. Bebe was truly the hands and feet of Jesus.
