Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his PawPaw, James Allen; his grandmother, Loretta Allen; his grandfather, William A. Campbell; his grandmother, Margaret Ertle; and close friend, Scott Watkins.
Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Braughton; his father, Billy Campbell, Sr. (Tanya VanDee); his sisters, Lisa Channell (Buster), Tina Greenfield (Don), and Regina Smith (James); his nieces, DeAnna Smith and Cierra Townsend; his nephews, Christopher Campbell, Justin Greenfield, Bratley Townsend, Christian Smith, Mason Channell, and Colt Channell; a great nephew, Ayden Parker; and special aunts and uncles, Joe Mac Pate, Kathy Pate, Joe Allen (Pam), Ron Lee Pasley (Geraldine), and Lanell West (Ron).
Billy attended and played football at Holt High School from 1982 to 1984 under the direction of Coach Woody Clements. He always loved Holt High and was often quoted as saying he was made of iron and bled purple. He also loved Alabama football, the Atlanta Braves, Elvis Presley, and cooking. His idea of a good time was hanging out with friends “grilling and chilling”. He was the life of the party and no get-together will ever be the same without him, but his friends have many, many stories of him that will keep him forever alive. To know Billy was to love him, and he was definitely loved.
Pallbearers will be Brian Hughes, Jerry Wesson, Jeff West, Glenn Smith, Chad Shawmake, Jamey Beasley, David Watkins, and Jonathan Shirley.
