

TROY | Dewayne Edward Cagle, age 45, of Troy, died June 22, 2014, in Montgomery, Ala. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Peter Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Wayne Cagle and his grandparents.
Survivors include his sisters, Hillary Karen Cagle and Mara Kristin Pierce; parents, Herb and Linda Champion; aunts, uncles and cousins; and two special aunts, Brenda Childress and Betty Martinez.
Dewayne graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. He worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation for 11 years. He enjoyed church friends, co-workers friendship and going out to eat. Most restaurants knew him by name and food order.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Poss, David Humphrey, Charles David, Willard Secrest, Hunter Secrest, and Galon Childress.
Honorary pallbearers are Alabama Department of Transportation in Troy, Ala., Troy American Legion Post 70, DAV Chapter in Troy, Ala., and members of the Troy Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Northport Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
