

NORTHPORT | Emma Dee “Granny” Crowder, age 90, of Northport, died September 9, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Sunset Chapel with pastor Mac McGraft officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, J. C. Crowder; her parents, McKinley and Velma Montgomery; and precious granddaughter, Samantha Kaye “Sally Sue” Collins.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Crowder Collins (Sam) of Panama City Beach, Fla., Delores “Dee” Finlay (Bill) of Northport, Ala.; brother, Douglas Montgomery (Martha) of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shane Collins (Jennifer) of Southport, Fla. and William Finlay of Northport, Ala.; great-grandchildren, Jordan Newsom of Southport, Fla. and Lilly Lanae Collins of Southport, Ala.
“Granny” was born and raised in Tuscaloosa County and lived her entire life there. At the age of 18, she gave her life and her heart to the Lord. Her entire life was lived for the Lord. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a stay at home mother and was always there for her girls and all of her family. She was famous for her homemade cheeseburgers and French Fries. She was a friend and blessing to all whose life she touched. She is now in paradise but we will miss her every day. We, your family, are so proud to have had and loved you so many years. Until we are all together again….
Pallbearers will be Jordan Newson, Todd Montgomery, Doug Montgomery, Jr., Jimmy Crowder, Ricky Crowder and Roy Spencer.
Honorary pallbearers are DCH nurses of 6SE, ACCU, MICU, and DCH Security guards, Dr. Gene Alldredge, Grace Baptist and Five Points Baptist Church Families, Tuscaloosa County prayer warriors, friends of Southport, Panama City and Panama City Beach, Fla., Ray and Vickie Collins, Charles and Cornelia Davis, Clear Channel Communications, Highway 69 North friends and neighbors and all WPAP Radio listeners who enjoyed Granny’s thought for the day, all of the family and friends who have had great faith in her prayers and prayed for her in return and all of the angels who called, visited and prayed for her in return or aided her daughter when she was in the hospital.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Grace Baptist Church and Five Points Baptist Church.
