
Frances E. Hamiter, age 94, of Northport, died Dec. 17, 2010, at Heritage Health Care Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Nixon and Al Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert D. Hamiter; her sisters, Minnie Irene Ezelle Scott and Rose Mae Knox; her brothers, Ted Ezelle and Allen Ezelle; and her parents, Lottie and Cohan Ezelle.
Survivors include her sons, William D. "Bill" Hamiter (Jean) of Tuscaloosa and Frank Ellis Hamiter (Bobbie) of Northport; her grandchildren, Dr. Robert Hamiter (Brooke) of Tuscaloosa, Andrew Hamiter (Angela) of Tuscaloosa, and Laurie Wright (Matt) of Tuscaloosa; and her great-grandchildren, Weston, William, Anne Douglas, Ellis, and Amelia Hamiter, and Noah and Anna Sydney Wright, all of Tuscaloosa.
Mrs. Hamiter was born in Carrollton, Ala. on Aug. 4, 1916. She was a member of Northport Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and knitting. She retired from First Mortgage Company of Tuscaloosa.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Knox, Winston Ferguson, Teddy Ezelle, Kenne Walker, Mike White, and Tommy Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Browne, staff of Heritage Health Care, members of Northport Baptist Church, and members of Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Northport Baptist Church Building Fund, Hospice of West Alabama, or the Saint Mark United Methodist Church Making Room for God Fund.
