

BUHL – Frank Evans, Jr., age 88, of Buhl, Ala., died October 26, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Buhl Baptist Church with Rev. Alfred Banks and Rev. Glen Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chip Evans; parents, Frank and Nona Evans; and sisters, Doris Norman and Shelia Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife, Missy Evans; sister, Francene Mills; brother, Millard Evans; and nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Frank was a veteran of the United States Army. He also served 35 years with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department. He was active in local political activities. He was always helping and giving to others. He went the extra mile.
Frank had a love of people and antique cars. He always had a project going. Family was always important to him. He left a legacy to the younger generation how to love the Lord, country and flag.
Frank enjoyed his pets, Dozier and Milo.
Pallbearers will be David Shaw, Robert Pate, Butch Evans, Joe Evans, Ken Pate, Robert Woods and Michael and Jeff Harless.
Honorary pallbearers are Hershel Hamner, James Alfred Vaughn, Ted Sexton, Clarine Wheat, Jean Harless, David and Connie Cherry, Charlotte and Bonnie, nurses on MacBee, Hospice of West Alabama, Pete Christian, Dr. Hill and staff and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Buhl Baptist Church.
