Gwendolyn Faye Findley, age 42, of Gordo, died July 2, 2013, at Northport Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marshall Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Saturday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Ruth Glennie and Jimmie and Madeline Pearson; her father, Donald R. Glennie; and her sister, Barbara Goodnight.
Survivors include her husband, Kelly G. Findley of Gordo; her sons, Richard Andrew and Bradley Ray Findley of Gordo; her mother, Nellie Faye Glennie; and her "grandchild in training" as Gwen called her, Maddison.
Gwen attended Arcata High School in Arcata, Calif. and graduated in 1988. She served in the U.S. Navy in the Seabee Reserves for 14 years. Next to "God," she was a devoted wife, mother, and daughter. She was the joining link in the chain to her cousins.
Gwen was a very outgoing person. She always attended the sports in which her sons participated to show her love and encouragement. She was into arts and crafts. She even participated in a Powder Puff Race in Kennedy. Gwen will be deeply missed by all.
Pallbearers will be Earl Willis, Dale Jones, Chris Findley, Chris Eickhoff, Colt Evans, and Keith Kemp.
Honorary pallbearers are Allen Roberts, James Jones, Joshua Davis, and Greg Kemp.
