

NORTHPORT | James Leon Jones, age 86, of Northport, died August 20, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015, at Sunset Chapel, A Dignity Memorial Provider, with Rev. Ron Manley and Rev. Michael Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with the funeral home directing. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Clemmie Jones; brothers, Glen and Charles Ray Jones; son-in-law, Steve Davis; and great grandson, Davis Atkinson.Survivors include his wife of 67 years Minnie Grace Jones; daughter, Jean Jones Davis; son, Michael Jones (Sherry); grandchildren, Penny Atkinson (Chris); Nick Davis; Jason Jones (Bethany) and Jon Jones (Kim); great grandchildren, Will, Wyatt, Evan, Eva, Annley and Huck.Leon was a life-long resident of the Northside community. He dedicated his life to God, his family and to the forestry industry. The woods were his great love as he spent 54 years logging and hunting. He was a true fan of the Crimson Tide and rarely missed a Braves game on t.v. His brilliant wit and caring ways will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Chris Atkinson, Nick Davis, Jason Jones, Jon Jones, Randall Jones and Trey Swindle.Honorary pallbearers are the Lunceford Family, Domino Buddies, Oregonia Church, Northport Church of God, All Foresters and Equipment Dealers with whom he dealt, Former Employees of Jones Logging, Bryant Bank, DCH Employees, Doctors Broughton, Hill, Jones, Tucker, Rev.
