

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Jim, and grandparents, Noah & Ruby Skelton, and James & Annie Bell Hughes.
Janice is survived by her mother Mary Nell Hughes (Betty) and leaves behind two sons, Jordan Hughes, James Henderson along with his wife, Cecilia, and a daughter, Lauren Hughes; four grandchildren, Nicholas & Emmaly Dawson, Bailey Henderson, and Paxton Mitchell; and an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Janice worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 35 years in and around Tuscaloosa and in Paris, Texas, where she previously resided for 20 years. While in Texas, Janice attended Pathway Church of God where she volunteered as a children’s Sunday school teacher. After moving back to Alabama, she attended Five Points Baptist Church, where her parents had attended for over 50 years.
Janice was an extraordinary person and will be remembered as such. She was beautiful, kind, smart, courageous, and she continuously showed grace. Janice always had encouraging words for others, was selfless, and loved spending time with family. Janice gave the warmest smiles and the best hugs. She will be missed by many. A Memorial Service will be be held May 6th, 2023 at Five Points Baptist Church and visitation will be 1 hour prior to service.
