She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lillian Lockhart, her oldest brother Raymond Lockhart and his spouse Newt Lockhart, also her loving husband of 57 years Reverend Houston Jolly, her devoted daughter-in-law Diane Jolly and great-granddaughter Kelsey Jolly.
She is survived by her 4 children (their spouses), 6 grandchildren (their spouses), and 8 great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 1sister, plus many friends and family.
Jemima Jolly was a leader to her family, friends and a source of strength that both family and friends relied on without reservation or apology. Her love and commitment to her family was only rivaled by her passion and love for the lost souls. This love ultimately led her and her husband Houston Jolly on countless trips to the Navajo Indian reservation and 6 trips for her to the slums of east Africa
Psalms 41.1-2a Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth:
It is said to collect Sis Jolly’s mail for just one day was a testament to the fact that giving to the poor was important to her. 4 out of 5 pieces of mail would be a request for help and thank you’s for her past giving. When she was told “you know you are not rich and could give everything you have away” her response would be “when I give it is because I feel the leadership of the Spirit to give, and I also know I am supposed to give it to.” Of course no one could argue with that.
She was truly blessed and a blessing in this world. The light in her life here that shines so brightly will never grow dim. A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, prophetess, missionary, evangelist, pastor and a rock too many that are left behind on this earth.
A woman of God whose shoes can never be filled.
