

Jennetta was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Thomas Burkhalter; three brothers, Buren Champion, Joe Champion, and Lincoln Champion; two sisters, Cora Mae Bobo and Bertha Lee Yerby, and her special caregiver, Tracie Cunningham.
She was a long-time member of Coker Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, walks through the Lake Robinwood neighborhood and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Jennetta is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Jack Burkhalter (Jill), Alton Burkhalter (Tina), Ray Burkhalter (Gail); one daughter and one son-in-law, Gail Bounds (John); grandchildren, Nick Smith, David Bounds, Chase Burkhalter, Jonathan Bounds, William Bounds, Wade Burkhalter, Leah MacLane, Anna Bounds, Renea Burkhalter, Blake Burkhalter; great grandchildren Cade Smith, Rylee Smith and Grant Bounds; and two sisters, Sarah Kizzire and Barbara Watson. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
A visitation for Jennetta will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM with Bro. Chris Waddell officiating. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery in Coker, AL.
Pallbearers are David Bounds, Chase Burkhalter, Jonathan Bounds, William Bounds, Blake Burkhalter, Brady Gregory, Paul Skelton, and Brian Cork. Honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Mitchum.
A very special thanks goes out to caregivers, Catherine Washington, Angeline Taylor, Karen Moore, and the late, Tracie Cunningham. They were a tremendous help and comfort in Jennetta’s last days.
