
Jerry Reasor Omer, age 75, of Tuscaloosa, died Nov. 18, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with Timothy E. Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in Serenity Chapel Mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Kathyrn Omer; and his brother, Terry Omer.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Collins Omer; daughters, Tracie Byrne (Patrick) of Daphne and Sheila Ferrell (Joe) of Lexington, Ky.; sisters, Phyllis Oakley and Kay Cooper, both of Beaufort, Mo.; brothers, Larry Omer of Indianapolis, Ind. and Dale Omer of Mesa; and grandchildren, Hannah Ferrell and Bailey Byrne.
Jerry was born in Clay, Ky. and grew up in Sturgis, Ky. He worked for the Pittsburgh-Midway Coal Co. of Denver, Colo. for 35 years and Jennman Corp. of Pittsburgh, Pa. for 12 years.
Pallbearers will be Charlie DelGaudio, J.W. Branyon, Phillip Collins, Weldon Cole, Frank Dykes, and Eddie Collins.
Honorary pallbearers are Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday Men's Golf Group at North River Yacht Club and the Fitness Center Group at North River Yacht Club. Special thanks to all the staff of 6 North and MICU at DCH Regional Medical Center, Dr. John Summerford, Dr. Rowell, Dr. Newsome, and members of Calvary Baptist Church, especially the Guyton Sunday School Class.
