

COKER | Jimmie Lee Brown Morris, age 81, of Coker, passed away peacefully at Northport Medical Center on April 17, 2015. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Tindle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Lee Morris; parents, Chester Lee and Cora Lee Brown; sister, Willa Dean Brown; and great-grandson, Koby Garrett Townsend.She is survived by her daughter, Karen Morris Gresham (Thomas) of Coker; sons, James Frank Morris and Dennis Ray Morris of Coker; sister, Louise Brown Townsend; grandchildren, Kristin Townsend of Northport, Kerri Roberts of Coker, Jesse Coley of Coker, Dallas West of Northport, Jared Gresham and Jonah Gresham of Coker; great-grandchildren, Karsen Cooley of Northport and Maggie Roberts of Coker; four nieces and three nephews.Jimmie was born July 1, 1933 and raised in Brownville, Alabama, the youngest of three daughters. She graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and started training to become a laboratory technician. She stopped her studies to marry her sweetheart, Herbert. They were married for 57 years until they were separated by his death. She devoted her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. "MawMaw Jimmie" was a great cook and her family enjoyed holiday meals at her house. She had a keen sense of humor, loved outdoor plants and flowers and was an avid Alabama football fan.Pallbearers will be Doug Morris, Brad Swinson, Jimmy Battle, Jim Chaffin, Phillip Montgomery, Frank Gaddy, Wesley Wallace and Ed Guin.Honorary pallbearers are lifelong friend Mrs. Dovie Akins, Nick and Kay Bohin, Rene Trawick, James Wedgeworth, Ricky and Elaine Wallace, Cliff Sellers, Joseph Morgan, Odie Boothe, friends and neighbors of Sutton Road and Mt.
