
Joe David Oswalt, age 53, of Northport, died Dec. 1, 2010, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Jerry Montgomery and Ted Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Ground Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Jewell; brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Hannah; father, Billy Neal Oswalt; and mother and stepfather, Billie Colleen Oswalt Boyd and Kelly Boyd.
Survivors include his daughters, Mandy Oswalt (Andy Ray) and Amber Oswalt (Chad Essary); a son, Keith Oswalt (Carolyn); a sister, Kathy McGee (Kevin Franklin); a brother, Kenny Oswalt (Donna); and grandson, Caleb Oswalt.
Joe was an avid race car fan and member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church. He was a jokester, and a friend to many. He loved his "office" at the Waffle House with his coffee buddies. He was a mechanic and construction worker until his illness prevented work. He loved his family, especially his grandson Caleb.
Pallbearers will be Joe Geer, James Oneal, Andy Oswalt, Larry Leonard, Jerry Jarrell, and Ricky Wallace.
Honorary pallbearers are Alacare Hospice, Brian Sanders, coffee buddies at Northport Waffle House, members of Arbor Springs Baptist Church, and Larry Walker.
