She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Hoyt Miller and Effie Mae Miller Colburn; husband, Joe Montgomery; and brothers, Jerry Hoyt Miller and Ronnie Lynn Miller.
She is survived by her son, Jerril P. Jones (Donna McCloud) of Northport, Alabama; granddaughter, Layna D. Kennedy (Rohan) of Northport, Alabama; and great-grandchildren, Rayne Kennedy and Raiden Kennedy of Northport, Alabama.
Linda was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. After high school, she began working for South Central Bell Telephone Company, where she learned and worked many different job titles in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. She loved learning new things and the rewards of the experiences while working there. She retired from South Central Bell with 33 years of dedicated service. During her employment there, she was awarded with many certifications and certificates honoring her hard work and dedication.
After retiring, she was always busy doing something. She and her husband, Joe, enjoyed traveling and taking vacations together. They would take cruises, travel all over the country and taking extended trips to the Gulf Coast.
Linda always enjoyed fishing on the piers in Gulf Shores, Pensacola and Navarre Beach. Her favorite fishing was for King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Redfish and Flounder. Her biggest King Mackerel that she caught was 34 pounds and she was very proud of that one. She mostly enjoyed seeing how many times everyone got to enjoy eating that fish. She was also an excellent cook that specialized in country cooking and if you knew Linda, you know that if you ate a meal at her house, you were not going to leave hungry.
She was a kind, compassionate, and caring person. Always putting her needs last while seeing to it that others she loved had their needs met. She took a very active role in taking care of family and friends to see that their needs were met in their greatest time of need, and she did it with that beautiful smile on her face. Linda Montgomery will be truly missed by all those who knew her because of her love, compassion, silly jokes, and those amazing hugs that she gave that let us all really feel the way that she felt about us. Linda, its ok. You have laid your burdens down so go rest for a little while and we will meet you by the Tree of Life in Heaven when we see you again. We love you.
A visitation for Linda will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terrell Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Willamson Cemetery in Northport, AL.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Thomas, Gene Thomas, David Chism, Devin Leger, Justin Kelly, and Rohan Kennedy.
