Mattie Lou Colburn

NORTHPORT - Mattie Lou Colburn, age 88, of Northport, Ala., died September 1, 2017 at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Waddell officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Colburn; son, Barry Colburn; parents, Ola and Annie Edmonds; brothers, Clarence, Frank, Curtis and Jim Edmonds; and sister, Kathryn Broughton .

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Colburn; grandchildren, Josh Colburn, Amy Noland (Jason), Cheryl Yarbrough (Scott), Jill Colburn, Sara Beth Kearney (Sean) and Rebecca Sewell (Josh); great-grandchildren, Abbey, Katie and Molly Noland, Bayley and Addison Yarbrough and Alexis, Andi and Harper Sewell.

Mother was retired from Sears Roebuck. She taught Sunday School at Indian Lake Baptist Church for 40 years. She enjoyed walking every morning at University Mall.

Pallbearers will be Josh Colburn, Jason Noland, Scott Yarbrough, Josh Sewell, Sean Kearney, Wally Welch and J.P. Mabry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Betty Herron, Members of her Sunday School Class, Members of Indian Lake Baptist Church, her walking friends of University Mall and retirees of Sears.

In lieu of flowers, mother requests that donations be made to Indian Lake Baptist Church.
