

Pierce Watson “Petey” Sumner II, age 48, passed away at his home on February 2, 2026. He was born on June 28, 1977, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Billie Faye Robertson Sumner and Pierce “PW” Whitfield Sumner. A graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, Class of 1995, Petey went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Alabama and later completed a Substance Abuse Counseling Certificate at the University of West Alabama. Petey built a life rich in personality, humor, and connection with those around him.
Petey was known for his ability to make others laugh and for his lively political debating skills, which kept family dinner nights with his cousins endlessly entertaining. Whether playing golf, relaxing at home, working, or even strolling through the grocery store, Petey could often be spotted looking especially handsome in his favorite shade of pink. He had an enormous heart for cats, both wild and domesticated, and made it his personal mission to feed as many furry friends as he could find. Petey was dearly loved, and his gigantic personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Petey is survived by his loving mother, Billie Faye Robertson Sumner; his aunts, Bobbie (Larry) Jones and Reba (Jim) Caldwell; his special sister cousins, Angela (Keith) Henline and Ashley Rowland, a cherished family friend, Cathy Martin and many other loving cousins. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Kitty Girl Sumner and Bobby Sumner.
He is preceded in death by his father, Pierce “PW” Whitfield Sumner, his maternal grandparents, Harry and Thelen Robertson, his paternal grandparents, Pierce Watson Sumner and Lenore Marlow Sumner Carter and his cat, CJ Sumner.
