

Robert Ivy “Bob” Sanford, age 70, passed away Thursday, February 15th 2024 at home. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 19th at 3:00 at Sunset Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Bob was preceded in death by his sons, Eric Sanford and Scott Sanford; his parents Ivy and Edna Sanford; brother Dennis Sanford; sister-in-law Rita Mitchell; and brother- in- law Randy Skelton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Debra Sanford; grandson Coty Sanford and his wife Cadi; great-grandson Colt Sanford; sister Sarah Perry; sister-in-law Diane Skelton; brother-in-law Alan Smelley (Becky) and a host of nieces and nephews.
Bob worked 45 years as a heavy equipment operator before he retired in 2020. He loved to play guitar and played in the praise band at church. Bob was also an avid Alabama football fan and never missed a game. Some of Bob’s favorite memories were fishing with his sons & grandson and he was known to tell a fishing story or two. He loved being a “Pop” more than anything. He was proud of his family and would brag on them every chance he got.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of Fab-Con, Inc., members of Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Horace Branch, Dr. Mary Margaret Clapp and other physicians and caregivers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
