Walter Eugene "Gene" Barrett

NORTHPORT | Walter Eugene "Gene" Barrett, age 69, of Northport, died July 26, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Bart Latner officiating. Burial will follow in Cornelius Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Lucille Barrett; sister, Katherine Barrett Greenfield; and brother, Clyde Barrett.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Ralston Barrett; daughter, Lisa Barrett Golden (Joe); son, Timothy E. Barrett (Tracy); sisters, Lois Randolph (Mike) and Betty Wilson (Curtis); brothers, James W. Barrett (Donna), Ted Barrett and Ed Barrett (Detra); grandchildren, Ashleigh Nail (Allen), Brent Barrett (Ashley), Matt Golden (Angela), Tory Barrett and Taylor Barrett; step-grandchildren, Colton Pate and Ethan Pate; and great-grandchildren, Brianna Lay and Hallie Kate Nail.

Pallbearers will be Brent Barrett, Tory Barrett, Taylor Barrett, Matt Golden, Allen Nail, and Chris Ralston.

Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of the Pinedale Subdivision, Steve Williams, Revon Bigham, Napolean McCwin, Lisa Hallman and staff of DCH TSICU, Michael, Arnold, Amy, Candy, Lyndsey, Blanche, Susan, Whitley and Molly, Darryl Watts, Dr. Simpson, Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Hemstreet, Dr. Proctor, Dr. Azam, Dr. Berry, Dr. Ramdeen, Dr. Paisley, Dr. Nagarajan, Dr. James Robinson, Dr. Anguiano, DCH cath-lab employees, Brother Byran Allen, Ben Allen, members of the Gilgal Baptist Church, employees of S.T. Bunn Construction Company, and staff of DCH 5th Floor South.
