

Wesley Dean Ellison, age 53, of Northport, died Dec. 23, 2011, at UAB Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with
Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his sons, Justin Brett Ellison (Stephanie) and Koby Major Ellison; his brother, Darwin Ellison; his parents, R.L. and Eleanor McGee Ellison; his granddaughter, Payton Grace Ellison; and special friend, Sherry Burgess. Wes was a loving family man and avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting with his family and was a long time member of Warrior Hunting Club. His life was fulfilled when he was blessed with his children and granddaughter Payton Grace, who lit up his life. Wes was a dedicated and hard-working businessman. Owner of Ellison’s Tree Service, located in Tuscaloosa County, he was a loving father who often sacrificed his own priorities for those of his two boys. He introduced and shared the sports of hunting and fishing with his friends and loved ones, particularly his sons. Whether he was coaching little league baseball or watching from the stands, Wes never missed a game. Wes was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. He was called a “friend” by many and often reached out to guide and encourage others for the betterment of their futures. He touched many lives and will be
greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Robert Moodie, Seth Kendrick, Hunter Richardson, Russell Howard, Alan Spann, and Michael Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are current and past employees of Ellison’s Tree Service, Dr. Martin Heslin and staff of UAB Hospital, DCH Cancer Treatment Center, members of Warrior Hunting Club, and friends of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church or the charity of one’s choice.
