Edith Mae Ferguson, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend, a woman of unwavering strength and resilience, passed away on April 14th, 2023, at the age of 88, in her home in Moorpark, California, surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was a shining light who brought joy and happiness into our lives, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She was the Matriarch, a Pillar, and Rock to her family, and touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.
Born on December 31st, Edith grew up in New York City and had deep roots in Grenada, West Indies, and her Native American (Cherokee) heritage. Edith's father, Wesley Williams, was of Native American descent, and her mother, Katherine LaTouche, was of French descent and immigrated to the United States from Grenada. Edith was the youngest of five children and was very proud of her diverse heritage and the rich cultural traditions her parents instilled in her.
In 1957 Edith married Caldwell Anthony Ferguson, who had immigrated to the United States from Grenada. Together they built a life and raised four children in Nanuet, New York. Edith's natural talent for connecting with people fueled her ambition to pursue a career in sales. Her profession in sales spanned several decades and included employment with Mary K. Cosmetics, Bamberger's, Franklin and Simon department stores, and lastly, her beloved Neiman Marcus.
Edith was proud of her career as a Couture Sales Associate for fifteen years at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills, Ca. Her client list read as a who's who spanning Nancy Reagan, Suzanne Somers, Barbara Eden, and many others. She worked alongside famous designers such as Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, and Albert Nippon, to name a few.
But Edith's artistic flair extended beyond her sales career, as she was also an incredible artist who loved to sketch and paint during her free time, but being with her family brought Edith the greatest joy in life.
She was a proud Mother and Grandmother to her children, who she loved unconditionally. She was always there for them, offering support and guidance through every milestone and challenge. Edith's love and devotion to her family knew no bounds. She was a selfless person and would do anything for her family. Edith lived a rich, meaningful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a kind-hearted person who always put others before herself.
Edith's legacy of strength, resilience, and perseverance will live on through her family and the numerous lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Her spirit will continue to inspire us all to face life's challenges with courage and determination. Edith is survived by her four children, Philip, Kathleen, Linda, and Kim; son-in-law, Kevin; five grandchildren: Jessica, Kristen, Brittney, Lauren, and Kimora; and a host of nieces and nephews.
