July 13th, 2021 in his home surrounded by his wife Gracy and
sons Unni and Roney, and close family.
Jomy was born June 15th, 1953 to the late Alexander (Chandy
Sir) Parackal and Aleyamma Parackal in Neezhoor, India.
He is the eldest of 6 children. After the passing of his father in
1972 he joined the Indian Air Force at the age of 19 to provide for
his family and help raise his 5 siblings. He proudly served in the
Air Force for 15 years.
He married his wife Gracy in 1987 and they welcomed Unni the
same year followed by Roney three years later in 1990. They
immigrated as a family to the US in 1993 and eventually settled in
Chatsworth, California where he and Gracy raised their sons. He
worked as an inventory manager for Staedler for 17 years until his
retirement in 2013.
He watched his son Unni marry his wife Nimmy (Chicago /
Vettukattil House Punnathara) in 2018 in Los Angeles, California
and in 2019 he watched his son Roney marry his wife Silpu
(Tampa / Jose House Ayirukuzhiyil) in Tampa, Florida.
He and Gracy lived in the home they bought together in 1998.
Unni and Roney returned home to help care for Jomy and the four
of them spent the last eight months of Jomy’s life with him.
Jomy was known for his sarcasm, wit, and humility. He was
disciplined in all aspects of his life. He believed in being loving
and kind and treated people with these values always. He
emphasized the importance of family. He valued friendship and
cultivated a closeness that made his friends feel like they were
family. He read for leisure and always sought knowledge
anywhere he could find it. He had a love for gardening, card
games, basketball, and daily walks with Gracy. He was most
certainly a man that was loved by many and will be missed
immeasurably.
His spirit leaves behind his wife Gracy whose love for her
husband was the epitome of “in sickness and in health”. She
spent every moment with him ensuring that he was taken care of.
He leaves the lessons of love and life with his sons Unni and
Roney and their wives.
Jomy passed during prayer that was led by his best friend and
cousin Father Thomas Thazhappally who also married him and
Gracy, and baptized and married his children.
Amongst the most important relationships in his life was with his
mother Aleyamma Parackal in Neezhoor, India whom he leaves
behind along with his siblings, Gracy’s siblings and their families.
He was a loving father, husband, brother, and uncle all of which
he was, of course, the best at.
He will forever live in the hearts of all those he shared his life with
and with those who were fortunate to have had the chance to
have met him, love him, and live alongside him in this lifetime.
“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die we die for the Lord. So,
whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
