Agnes was born in Norwich on July 15, 1920 to the late Harold and Rose (Tatro) Vars. On September 28th, 1940 she married her beloved husband Arthur Richard who predeceased her. They made their home in Norwich raising their family while Agnes worked several jobs throughout her life. Being a member of the “greatest generation”, Agnes lived through the depression and war working all the while in defense plants to support the war effort. She went on to work as a clothier for the former John Meyer and then D&D Cleaners in Norwich prior to her retirement.
Agnes loved to crochet, do ceramics, play cards, watch movies and raise plants. Later in life she would enjoy the CT Sun and UCONN Huskies girl’s teams as a regular fan. Her greatest joy was weekends as she brought family together for gatherings at her home until she was unable to any longer.
She is survived by her children; Roger Richard and his wife Sue of Preston, Arthur Richard of Canterbury, Gloria Holloway and her husband Stuart of Preston and Bruce Richard and his wife Carolyn of Arizona, grandchildren; Roger Richard Jr, Scott Richard, Lori Torres, Amanda Holloway, Jeremy Richard, and Brian Richard, and great-grandchildren; Alyssa, Christopher, Austin, Taylor and Sonya.
