Blanche or “Gram” as she was fondly referred to by all who adored her was born July 9, 1921 to the late Vincent and Sophie Yablansky Valentine. She was adopted and raised by Marta and Frank Rogosky. She married Henry Goetz on February 14th 1939. Sadly he predeceased her in 1967. She then married Paul Bahre February 2, 1974. He passed away in 1983. She spent her working career in the produce department at Copaco Grocery store in Bloomfield, retiring in 1985.
Gram was the matriarch of her family. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking, baking, hosting family meals and gatherings. She had an amazing green thumb with her home and yard always full of plants and gardens. When she wasn’t baking or gardening you’d find her doing word puzzle books which she swore kept her brain young. Gram was above all, selfless. She received much joy out of life by providing for others, whether it was by baking or buying you a special treat or sending you a care package full of candy, that was what made her happiest.
Gram is survived by three daughters Frances “Terry” ( James) Gozzo of Porterville Ca., Maryann “Rosie” Szajda of Pawcatuck, Christine Goetz of Middletown, NJ, seven grandchildren; Patrice Bromley of Colchester, Tina (Sean) Burke of Winnemucca, NV, Jerilyn (Brian) Mancini of Dayton, ME., Joseph (Becky) Mancini of Bolton, Amanda Szajda of Pawcatuck, Henry Gozzo of San Bernini, Ca, Vincent (Andrea) Gozzo of Livermore, Ca; great grandchildren Tiffany Lazur of Lebanon, Haleigh And Paul Jurgiewich of Dayton, Me., Mallorie Mancini of Colchester, Kyle and Kari Gozzo of San Bernadino, CA and Dominic and Giana Gozzo of Livermore, Ca. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother James Valentine as well as three sisters, Sophie Gerbick, Nellie Kuziel and Anne Holbrook.
