

surrounded by her family. They are comforted by the fact that she made it home to heaven for
Christmas and has been reunited with her loved ones.
Carol was born on August 7,1944 to Henry and Jeanne (Wheelock) Seitz. Carol was a surprise,
accompanying her twin sister Karen-Lea into the world.
Carol was a proud member of NFA’s class of 1962. She worked for the Connecticut
Department of Transportation for many years, which is where she met her rst love, her late
husband Richard “Dick” Rathbun. Carol and Dick married and had 3 daughters, whom they
adored.. After Dick’s passing, Carol remarried to husband Peter Ballaro in 2008. To those that
know and love her best, she is known as “Mimi”. Her grandchildren, whom she referred to as
her “5 sugarplums” will miss Monday night dinners, family vacations, camping trips, and her
big family gatherings.
Carol is survived by her husband, Peter Ballaro. She leaves behind her legacy, her beloved
family- her daughters Cindy-Lou Roberts, Wendy Gaudette, and Kelly Martin; son-in-laws
Corey Gaudette and Daniel Martin; her grandchildren Cole & Brittany Roberts, Maddison
Martin, Jensen Martin, Olivia Gaudette, and Sophie Gaudette; and great-grandson Palmer
Roberts. She is survived by stepson Peter Ballaro Jr. and wife Stacy. She is also survived by
her twin sister Karen-Lea Reynolds and her husband Frederick, sister-in-law Kathy Seitz,
numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
Carol is predeceased by her parents Henry and Jeanne Seitz, her younger brother Frederick
“Ricky” Seitz, her husband Richard “Dick” Rathbun, and stepson Marcus Ballaro.
Calling hours will be held at Church and Allen Funeral Home (136 Sachem St. Norwich, CT) on
Monday, December 30th from 4 PM- 7 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday,
December 31st at 11 AM at the Lebanon Baptist Church (694 Trumbull Hwy. Lebanon, CT).
Burial will immediately follow at Plains Cemetery on Under the Mountain Road in Franklin, CT.
