Charles F Shelley

Charlie was born in Norwich on September 6, 1941. He was the son of the late James and Dorothy Elizabeth (Morris) Shelley.

Charlie married Pauline Turner on November 10, 1962, she survives him.

Charlie retired from Electric Boat as a welding supervisor.

Charles was his given name, but all who loved him, called him Poppy. Poppy’s love for his family was obvious to everyone who knew him. He was always at his grandchildren’s sporting events and he traveled extensively to watch them play volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball.

He was a member of St. John’s Church in Bozrah.

In addition to his wife, Pauline, Poppy is survived by his daughter, Dawn Bouchard and her husband Greg of Lisbon, his four grandchildren, Jamie Serpa and her husband Jarred, Jessica Rhoades and her husband Robert, Travis Bouchard and Hailey Bouchard. He is also survived by 4 great-grandsons.

Poppy was predeceased by two children, Charles F. Shelley, Jr and Kim Marie Shelley, a brother Donald Shelley and a great-granddaughter Grace Marie Rhoades.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 @ 10am at St. John Roman Catholic Mission Church, 190 Fitchville Road, Bozrah, CT. Burial will be private.
