David A. Pierson Sr. 86, passed on the morning of July 24 2025 with his wife at his side at the home of his caretaking son, William "Bill" Pierson. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Tyler Pierson. They were married on July 23rd 1955. His passing came just one day after their milestone 70th wedding anniversary.
He worked as a machinist and welder at Electric Boat and Pratt and Whitney before becoming an auto mechanic for the fleet of cars at SNET (Southern New England Telephone company).
After retirement from SNET he spent several years traveling and camping in several states with his wife Gloria by his side. When they weren't traveling his free time was dedicated to his favorite hobby of tinkering in his blacksmith forge creating beautiful and unique home/yard decor. He was a master blacksmith. They moved to North Carolina for several years where he built another forge and continued his love for the craft.
Eventually he and Gloria returned home to CT to be cared for by his loving son, William. David was a jack of all trades and a master of all trades. If he didn't have a special tool for a project he made one. If he didn't know how to fix something he read a giant manual on it. He had a passion for learning. He was a dedicated and faithful provider to his family first and foremost. He was a generous, intelligent, creative, hard working, kind and humble man with a huge sweet tooth for candy and pastries. This remarkable man had no enemies. If you were a stranger on the side of the road with your car hood up he stopped to fix your car. If you knew him he improved your life in some way. When he was fixing something for you, and you were there, he was teaching you step by step the whole process. He patiently passed his different talents and skills onto his children who will be forever grateful. He changed the world for the better and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife Gloria Tyler Pierson his three children David Pierson Jr. of Sterling, CT., William "Bill" Pierson of Taftville, CT., Sandra "Sandy" Pierson Arauz of Graham, NC., his siblings Eleanor Fallgren of Minnesota, Robert Pierson of North Carolina, Leonard Pierson of Wisconsin, several nieces and nephews and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his mother Margaret Hale Pierson, father Hjalmar Pierson, a brother Charles Pierson and a sister Kathleen Pierson Lanier.
