Uncasville, CT - Dorothy Louise Santangelo, age 89, passed away surrounded by family on April 2, 2021. She was born in Springfield, Mass. on April 6, 1931 to the late Marshall and Madeline (Holland) Short. She was predeceased by her loving husband James J. Santangelo Jr.
Dorothy, better known as “Gram” for the last 40 years, was one of the kindest most loving people that just adored being surrounded by family. She worked for the state of CT as a nurse’s aide for special need children for 20 years where she shared that love for caring for people. Her and her husband loved trips to casinos.
She is survived by a daughter Sandra Goodwin of Taftville, a daughter Linda Cabral of Uncasville, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a brother Donald Short, a brother Daniel Short and a sister Diane McClure. She is predeceased by a brother Douglas Short.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 6th, at 11:00 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.
